Day 3

Back on the road by midday after Mercedes fitted a "make turbo go, or not go" part however, on the exact same hill, a frustrating return of the (same) minimal power issue. Called Mercedes from same junction who sent a mechanic who stated, with a cutting motion across his throat, "Turbo defekt". After an hour awaiting pick-up he jumped in the ambulance’s driver’s seat and gesticulated wildly, which we finally interpreted as meaning ‘I drive yours, you drive mine’. This we hesitantly did and, back at Mercedes, a large quote for a new turbo unit was pushed our way. Picking ourselves up off the floor, we gave them the OK and, realising the official rally Czechout party was that night, somehow wangled an brand new Opel Insignia courtesy car, surpassing all our expectations. Having just shy of 600km to drive in a matter of hours our driving style was somewhat adapted from what we were accustomed to in the ambulance, arriving fashionably late (11.15pm) in Klenova, Czech Republic. Swiftly erecting a tent and donning our wise-men costumes we ‘made party’, drank and danced the night away.
