Day 4

Woke up feeling fragile at best to find Joe had executed a Czech TC (tactical chunder) outside the tent while Hugh and Burt had slept on the rock hard seat backs in the back of the Insignia. After attempting to explain the reason for our pimp wagon to other teams we set off on the daunting return leg back into the centre of Germany where, thanks to the over efficient nature of the Insignia’s satnav, we found ourselves off piste on a rocky mud track in the scenic countryside. In need of fuel we stopped at a remote petrol station to find two issues; a scratch down the entire right side of the car (from fallen vegetation on earlier track) and the difficult decision of diesel or petrol. Along with some locals we sniffed the filler cap and pumps and, after much deliberation with the unimpressed female attendant, arrived at the correct conclusion. Arrived back at Mercedes fifteen minutes before they shut to pay the frightening bill, return Lemar (the courtesy car) and pick up the repaired Keith (the ambulance, referred as such from now on). Ended day with a tasty sausage bolognaise at services near Spessart.
