The aim of today was to get as close to the Mongolian border as possible as Hugh and Joe have to get to into Mongolia before the 28th of August i.e. we need to get there tomorrow. Unfortunately this area of road was not on our map (it was covered by the Key!) we consequently massively underestimated the convoluted nature of the road, leading to a longer day than we thought. Having said this, the scenery was incredible and a thoroughly enjoyable drive all round. We camped off the road down by a big river in a gorge, gathered wood and prepared a fire, after we had finished preparations it rained so we gave up on that idea and went to bed.
