Day 34

First point of call was the registration office which happened to be closed only on Thursdays Although we aim to be out of Kazakhstan within seven days and officially do not need to be registered, this is of some concern as it is possible for a dodgy/picky boreder guard who ha taken offence to our less than cuth demeaner, use our lack of paerwork to cause us inconeiniance At breakfast we met Bibet, a Frenchman ho was going also going to hopefully cross into Russia today. We decided to take him. Our boreder worries did not materialise,.this,  in fact the kzakh- Russian border was the most pleasant of our trip. Friendly and border guards enjoyed our siren ( again) and let us pass without ever really slowing us down more than necessary.
The drive to barnaul long though a formality due to the good quality of the rusian roads, a highlighted was yet another melon that was donated to us by a friendly pickup truck driver  who we asked for directions. We tramped around barnual to find cheap accommodation tof ind that the train station accommaodation the most financially attractive proposition. Dinner: shashlyk  (we need to improve our Russian vocabulary!)
