Day 29

Distance Covered: 254 miles
Total Distance Covered: 5897 miles

Headed out early to see a nearby waterfall and on arrival decided to take an impromptu shower (outrageously cold and painful but well worth it and it impressed the local women at the same time!). Repacked the van to fit Jeremy’s stuff and gave a lift to Bruno (Jeremy’s maverick fiery French travel companion) as far as Bazar Korgon. On our lunch break we were harassed by two local chaps wanting to hitch a lift to Kara-Kol, roughly an hour up the road. In return they provided the biggest watermelon we have seen so far on our trip (and we have seen a fair few melons) and due to the excessive weight of said melon Keith later experienced a recurrence of his power issues. To get around this issue we found a break at the top of every brow seemed to do the trick, in one of these breaks we stopped at a roadside cafĂ© for some Laghman and chai. After the first of the two big passes before Bishkek pulled up and camped alongside some yurts and goat herds for the night.
