Hey. This is the blog for team 'Things Can Only Get Bataar'. We are a group of 4 guys who have rather foolishly decided it is a good idea to drive an ambulance to Mongolia this summer for charity !! For more information check out our website, facebook etc in the links below or email us at getbataar@gmail.com. Thanks x
Having only gone to bed at 4am we were woken at 9:30 to find breakfast filled with hung-over travellers and bewildered staff. After a suitably touristy morning of Registan photographing we said our goodbyes to the British team, Jemima and Jackie and set out for Tashkent. Making great time we rashly tried to be too clever and ended up taking a slightly revised route to avoid an accidental premature crossing into Kazakhstan. This wouldn’t have been to disastrous had we not been flagged down by 2 police men in the middle of nowhere who told us the road ahead was closed unless we paid $300. After much phrase book based ‘fun’ and melon eating we handed over the first bottle of alcohol we picked out of the cupboard and quickly got back on our way. Exhausted and having failed to reach Tashkent we camped in a roadside restaurant carpark.
